Boycotting all Peditrician's office playrooms

Okay calling all Mothers of America=) , I have looked up the word "boycott" and I think it is an appropriate thing to do to all Pediatricians playrooms. Here is what the word means: A boycott is a form of consumer activism involving the act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with someone or some other organization as an expression of protest. What were they thinking when they built these children's dr. offices,... lets place a single playroom at the entrance of each office, so that when a mother of two toddlers enters she can then venture into the never-ending vicious cycle of screaming kids who want to touch and play with all the germ covered toys in the room.

Today when bringing Megan and Tyler to get their physical and shots, we were doing just great...they both have been trained not to go into the germ-filled little toy area and they know they must not touch a single toy or they will catch what every other child had that touched those same hideous, disgusting toys previously! While waiting in the waiting room, we had tried everything...even pointing out the same cow, horse, and kitty picture like a hundred million times, and count how many clouds are painted on the wall, or go through Nana's purse, or just trying to make them sit still for a few seconds. Well, we gave in, yes, we broke down and let them play with the toys...they didn't throw fits or anything we just managed to end up in there...there was nothing else to do. Why must they put toy areas in the doctor's offices??? I think the main purpose is more MONEY! Whatever the kid playing with the toy first had the next kid will get it in a few days and have to come back and pay the $15 co-pay! Yes, that is it...MONEY! Anyway, I have now decided to BOYCOTT them...yes, if you agree make a complaint to your local congressman's office and see if we, mothers of America, can get these rooms removed! Thanks=)!!

By the way, I have survived yet another trip to the dr. office. Meg and Ty had shots which they didn't appreciate very much! They both seem to be growing just fine!! =) Praise the Lord!!

you are so funny sarah...but hey I agree...you would think of all places the doctor's offices would be clean but even the exam rooms are filthy...I have to go to the dreaded checkup in 2 weeks..wish me luck :)

I meant to comment on this when you first posted it...sorry! That is so funny, you made me laugh. Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only paranoid mom out there who won't let her kids touch the toys in the waiting room. I think it's gross!! All I can think about is the germs on everything. We have lots of appointments, so thankfully they are used to waiting in the chairs. But I usually just bring our own toys now. And then they fall on the floor....and get covered in germs. YUCK! =P
