Sounds in the night

Well on Saturday night, late Saturday night (after 12:00) my hubby and I were preparing a game for our church bus, when we were startled by loud booming sounds...at first, we did not think anything about it, thinking it may be the thunder from the storm that was approaching our area...yet it continued...we started to get scared, looking out the windows wondering what that loud booming sound was in the distance...my hubby, told me to check the news, what could all those booming sounds be?? Sounds of things zipping through the air, then loud booms. My mind started to wonder what could those sounds be....it is after 12:00 on a Saturday night in May, since we live only 30 minutes from Washington, D.C., my mind really started to wonder...I began thinking where should I bring my babies to hide... America is being bombed and attacked, of course that's it...because it certainly was not thunder...are my parents okay (living only 10 min. from D.C.), my heart began to pound and I began to shake a little! James went outside to listen...he saw all of our neighbors looking out their front doors, peeking out their windows looking at the sky above. He came in and told me to call 911 and see if they got any reports of what was going on... I did...they answered...I said, yes, we hear these loud booming noises...and things sounding like firecrackers going off, the kind officer said...are they off in the distance...I said, "yes!" The officer replied calmly, "Oh, the new blue crabs stadium opened this week and they are having a fireworks show..." I felt really, really stupid at that moment, yet my heart was still pounding in my chest! I was really relieved and happy America was not under attack! I said, Oh, good...I thought America was under attack, and I was about to bring my babies somewhere and hide. He began to laugh....
